Why a professional website matters in London

London (South East England) is home to around 9 million people - and most of them search online before choosing a local service. If your business doesn't show up when someone in London searches for what you do, that enquiry goes to a competitor instead.

At RobieStrony I build websites with the help of AI tooling - which is why they are ready in 3-7 working days and start from Β£197. As a Polish web designer based in the UK, I can also build your site bilingually, so you reach both English-speaking and Polish-speaking customers in London.

Websites I've built for businesses in London

Web design in London: what local businesses need

London is the hardest place in the UK to be found online, simply because so many businesses compete for the same searches. I'm Tomek, a web designer based in Gloucester, working remotely with small businesses across the UK, London included. I build fast static websites on Astro and Cloudflare, at a fixed price and with no monthly hosting fee, and you deal with the same person from the first call to the live site. One of the London sites I've built is for The Cybrarian, a cyber security consultant.

Nobody small wins "plumber London". What works is thinking at the level of the borough or postcode district your customers actually live in. In West London that might be Ealing (W5), Acton (W3), Hammersmith (W6), Southall or Hounslow (TW3). South of the river, Wimbledon (SW19), Streatham and Croydon (CR0). In the east, Walthamstow (E17), Stratford (E15) and Romford. Each of these has its own high street, its own competitors and its own searches.

People search that way too: "electrician Ealing", "nail salon Walthamstow", "builder Wimbledon", "accountant Croydon", or just a postcode such as "W5 plumber". A small business that names the two or three areas it really serves, with a useful page for each, competes against a handful of local firms instead of every business in Greater London. A 020 number, kept the same on your site and your Google Business Profile, also reassures customers who prefer someone nearby.

London is also home to the largest Polish community in the UK: according to the ONS 2021 Census, about 158,000 people born in Poland live in Greater London, many of them in West London. If part of your customer base speaks Polish, I can build the site in English and Polish, so both groups find you and read about your services in their own language. Typical clients here are trades and builders, cleaning companies, beauty salons, accountants and independent consultants who need a clear, quick site rather than an agency build.

Areas I cover around London

  • Ealing (W5) and Acton (W3)
  • Hammersmith (W6)
  • Hounslow (TW3)
  • Southall (UB1, UB2)
  • Wimbledon (SW19)
  • Streatham (SW16)
  • Croydon (CR0)
  • Walthamstow (E17)
  • Stratford (E15)
  • Romford (RM1)

How I'd set up a website for a London business

  • Pick your patch. A site that claims to cover "all of London" ranks nowhere in particular. I start by listing the boroughs and postcode districts where most of your customers really are.
  • Area pages with real detail. A page for Ealing and one for Hammersmith, each describing the work you do there and how to book, rather than one template with the name swapped.
  • Google Business Profile matched to the site. Service areas set to the boroughs you cover, the right primary category, and the same business name, phone number and address as on the website.
  • Reviews as a habit. In a market this crowded, recent genuine reviews are often what makes a customer pick you. I add a short review link you can send after every job.
  • English and Polish if your customers need it. A bilingual site with separate pages per language, so each version can be found in Google on its own.

You get a fixed quote first: a one-page site from Β£197, ready in 3-7 working days. See all prices or tell me about your business.

Website design in London: common questions

How much does website design in London cost?

A one-page site starts from Β£197, and a business website with up to 5 pages starts from Β£497. Each extra page is Β£50. Hosting on Cloudflare with SSL is included, with no monthly hosting fee. You get a fixed quote before any work starts.

Have you built a website for a business in London?

Yes. One example is The Cybrarian, a London cyber security consultant. You can see the site in my portfolio.

Can a small business rank in Google for London searches?

Yes, but rarely for "London" on its own. The realistic route is ranking for your service plus the boroughs or postcode districts you serve, such as Ealing, Croydon or Walthamstow, backed by a well-kept Google Business Profile and steady reviews. It takes consistent work over months, not days.

Do I need a London address to appear in local results?

To appear in Google Maps you need a verified Google Business Profile. If you work at customers' homes or premises, it can be set up as a service-area business with your address hidden, showing only the boroughs you cover.
